TRAVELLING IN EDINBURGH

TRAVELLING IN EDINBURGH

Edinburgh is served by excellent air and rail links to the rest of the UK. There is a comprehensive bus service for moving around the city and the local area.

Arriving by Train

Arriving in Edinburgh by train brings you straight into the heart of the city. Edinburgh Waverley Station is between the Royal Mile and Princes Street and is convenient for all central Edinburgh locations.

If you are staying in a hotel near the conference centre, Edinburgh Haymarket station is also convenient and many trains stop at both stations.

Travel from Edinburgh Airport

Edinburgh airport is 10km from the conference centre and is a 20-30 minute taxi journey costing approximately £20-25. An alternative is to use the bus or tram (light train) service.  If travelling by tram you must buy your ticket before boarding from one of the ticket machines at the stop.

Using buses in Edinburgh

Information on buses can be found at https://lothianbuses.co.uk/ and there are very useful apps for your smartphone issued by Transport for Edinburgh. Single bus trips cost £1.60 for an adult but if you will be making more than two trips in a day the adult day ticket is excellent value at £4.00. Tickets can be purchased on the buses – please have the exact amount since change is not provided, or using the m-ticket app where you can buy single journeys or day tickets valid for 180 days – but please note that there is a minimum spend of £10 and only one passenger is permitted per device.
